Geofrey Becomes Student Ambassador at DCTC, Minnesota USA

Geofrey Kalanzi, one of our boys (young men) travelled to Minnesota on a partial athletic scholarship with Dakota County Technical College in July 2007. He played soccer, positioned as goal keeper for the his first season and the team had an outstanding season.

Geofrey received the award of Most Committed Player at the team's award banquet. Presented by his coach Cam Stolz and the college's president, they commented on his extraordinary work, his ability to adjust to so many changes, his good character, his team spirit, his humility and much more.

This has been an incredible opportunity for Geofrey and an absolute delight to us all as we watch him grow and mature into his destiny. Having immediately connected to the school, staff and other students, Geofrey was asked to apply for a position at school as one of the Student Ambassadors.

Click here http://www.dctc.edu/students/resources/ambassador_club.cfm to read more about Geofrey and his position. He is also on the Student Senate.

We would like to thank and honor DCTC for their amazing hospitality and demeanor with international students. They sincerely embraced Geofrey from the beginning and helped him to adjust to so many new things - school, academic procedures, culture, team, country, state, people, friends, coaches, driving, and more.

THANK YOU DCTC, especially Coach Cam and Patrick Lair and DCTC's President. Also a big THANK YOU to Timon and Hary from Germany who paid for Geofrey's airline ticket to the USA. And a final THANK YOU to all the donors who contributed to Geofrey's education, upbringing over the years, and his future!

All of the seeds sown into this young man's life are multiplying in the lives of so many whom he touches as well as his own. God bless you!

Reaching Out to Zambia

Prince Fred made his first journey outside Uganda to Lusaka, Zambia. He enjoyed two plane rides, Entebbe, UG to Nairobi, KY and then from Kenya to Lusaka. His first time in flight. They lost his luggage in Nairobi, surprise surprise.

Prince Fred said that he felt like everything went so easy. "It was like I've been traveling all my life" he told me after he arrived.

While there, Prince Fred is assisting an American doctor and his medical team in caring for HIV/AIDS orphans, helping at their clinic, in their daycare, and with any other needs around the house or elsewhere.

According to Dr Tim Meade, Prince Fred is a perfect fit and they have all bonded and become fast friends. "If Fred ever goes back to Uganda..." were some of the comments I received from Dr Tim. So it's an honor to know they are enjoying our son.

Prince Fred says that he loves the people and the place. He is enjoying all the new places, people, and the things he is learning. He feels honored to have this opportunity to learn about the medical field. Becoming a doctor is a dream of Prince Fred's. This is a great way to begin realizing that dream. Prince Fred also said that Dr Tim treats him as if he is a son. That really touched Prince Fred's heart as he never had a good relationship with his father.

The only hard part is missing all of us at home in Uganda. We miss Fred here too. BUT we can't change time with him for this great opportunity. Hopefully, we will all get to visit him one of these days.

We've been talking about a bus trip. Anyone up for a really long bus ride? Thanks for the seeds you have sown over the years into Prince Fred's life. As you can see, he is now learning to reciprocate blessings for others. Good seeds sown into good ground always bear good fruit! And now he is planting some seeds of his own!
NOTE: In the photos above, Prince Fred is administering HIV tests on children. The other is of some of Dr Tim's team.
